We went inside Calgary’s newest event space, and it needs to be on your radar.

Throughout our years of designing events in Calgary, we’ve worked in many venues. While they are each unique, exciting, and full of possibility in their own way, there are a special few that have really stolen our hearts. We recently caught up with Rhys Higham, Events Specialist at Hudson, for a site tour to get the specs (literally) and insider information on this soon-to-be-available hotspot, and it immediately became one of those places.

Located on the sixth floor of the Hudson’s Bay’s Heritage Building, Hudson is primed to breathe new life into an iconic Calgary address, and become a major contender as one of the city’s top event spaces. In the heart of downtown, it’s just minutes away from Calgary’s Arts District, beautiful green spaces, public transit, and fabulous hotels like Hotel Arts, Le Germain Hotel, and The Hyatt Regency.

The event space boasts a beautiful grand foyer and large windows for natural light. We were immediately captivated by the preservation of original features like the glass escalators and brick walls, and were equally impressed by modern changes, such as state-of-the-art catering facilities. The results are intoxicating; old world charm meets modern luxury, stunning windows reveal the city laid out at your feet, and the open floorplan allows endless possibilities for your event.

Once complete, the available spaces will include the more contemporary Hudson Loft, and the spectacularly grand Hudson Flat, together totalling over 18,000 square feet with capacity for 792 seated guests, or 1000 as a reception event. Keep an eye out for their grand opening on May 31st, which you don’t want to miss. After seeing the space for ourselves, it’s no surprise to us that Hudson is already booking into 2018.
