Located on the sixth floor of the Hudson’s Bay’s Heritage Building, Hudson has breathed new life into an iconic Calgary address, and become a major contender as one of the city’s top event spaces. It’s no secret that we love this city, and there’s a lot to get excited about just outside Hudson’s doors: Calgary’s Arts District, great shopping, trendy eateries, beautiful green spaces, and a convenient proximity to popular hotels. Inside the space, an epic grand foyer will have jaws dropping right off the bat, and it only gets better from there.
The brilliant preservation of original features like glass escalators and exposed brick walls is a designer’s dream and it’s been an absolute pleasure playing with these features as we design events in the space. For example, we explored with juxtaposing the industrial qualities of the venue with a chic modern design full of metallics and geometric shapes for the Blake, Cassels & Graydon holiday party, pictured below. Along with the historical preservation of design details, we’ve been equally impressed by modern features at Hudson like state-of-the-art catering facilities.
Overall, Hudson is intoxicating: old world charm meets modern luxury, large windows allow for natural light while the sun’s up, and stunning views after dark, and the open floorplan has endless possibilities. Available spaces include the more contemporary Hudson Loft, and the spectacularly grand Hudson Flat, together totalling over 18,000 square feet with capacity for 792 seated guests, or 1000 as a reception event.
