On April 12, 2025, 1,300 guests gathered in the new Champions Ballroom at the BMO Centre at Stampede Park in Calgary for the 2025 Enserva STARS & Spurs Gala. Alberta’s longest-running and largest fundraiser in support of STARS Air Ambulance raised a record-breaking $1.7 million.
Our role focused exclusively on event décor design, shaping the visual atmosphere of the ballroom and creating a cohesive Western-inspired environment that felt elevated, immersive, and intentional.
A Contemporary Western Gala Atmosphere
The décor concept for the 2025 Enserva STARS & Spurs Gala embraced a modern Southwestern aesthetic — warm, grounded, and confident. A sweeping desert sunset projection transformed the expansive Champions Ballroom, anchoring the space with bold scale and unmistakable character. The large-scale STARS & Spurs artwork created a striking focal point, immediately immersing guests in the theme.
Layered linens in deep blues, cactus greens, sandy neutrals, and clay tones brought richness and depth to the room. The colour palette felt distinctly Western while maintaining the polish expected of a large-scale Calgary gala event.
Texture played a central role in the design. Woven elements, natural materials, and warm candlelight softened the grandeur of the ballroom, creating intimacy within a 1,300-guest setting. Clean place settings and refined finishes ensured the décor remained sophisticated and cohesive throughout.
Impact
Design at this scale must unify a room. In a 1,300-person ballroom, clarity and consistency are critical to the guest experience.
By anchoring the Champions Ballroom with a strong visual focal point and maintaining a disciplined colour story across the space, the décor created warmth and presence without overpowering the program. The result was a modern Western gala environment that elevated the energy of the evening while complementing the significance of the event.
