Overview

The Keyano College Gala has been Fort McMurray’s signature black-tie event for over four decades. Since 2018, we’ve proudly partnered to bring this remarkable evening to life, bringing their community together to celebrate achievements while raising vital funding for education, arts, and campus enhancements.

This year’s gala, presented by Bouchier Group, invited guests to journey through the diverse beauty of Canada’s landscapes and communities.

From the moment they arrived, guests were immersed in the wonder of Canadian scenery. A captivating display of northern lights in vibrant purple, blue, and green hues led inside, where branded canoe shelves framed the entryway.

The visual immersion carried through to the dining area, where forest-printed and buffalo-checked linens were illuminated by candlelight and accented with bare tree centrepieces. Wintry details lent a cozy, lodge-inspired feel, while metal and wooden seating reinforced the rugged aesthetic.

Five unique bars brought the natural elements and local culture of five stunning regions of Canada to life. From the Northern Canada Bar, reflecting the dense forests and resilience of our northern communities, to the Atlantic Canada Bar, designed to evoke the vast, open horizon of the Atlantic, and The Central Canada and Canadian Prairies Bars, paying homage to our agricultural heartland and vast prairie skies. We also created the Keyano Summit Lodge inspired by Canada’s mountain ranges, complete with snow-dusted evergreens, Adirondack chairs, and a fire pit for a cozy retreat.

Lush VIP areas offered an elevated experience with deep blue tones, gold accents, and mountain-inspired decor. Plush seating, fur throws, and dried floral arrangements created an air of sophisticated comfort, while a photo station with line art of Canada’s iconic mountain ranges offered a picture-perfect memento of the night.

Keyano College Gala kept it local for entertainment and audiovisual expertise, partnering with FM Systems for audio, who brought Invert 720 for video and Keylite for lighting. Guests were treated to performances by the Canadian rock supergroup The TransCanada Highwaymen and Celtic rock band the Derina Harvey Band. Plus, rental support by Special Event Rentals Calgary streamlined the process of creating the depth of decor that pulled the night together.

Impact

The Keyano College Gala continues to be more than just an event—it’s a celebration of community, education, and culture. Each detail of this year’s gala created a multi-sensory experience that connected guests to Canada’s landscapes while fostering a sense of pride and philanthropy.

The evening was an unforgettable tribute to Canada’s natural beauty, underscoring the importance of education and community support in Fort McMurray’s legacy.
