A glimpse into our role in the event design and logistics for the 2016 JUNO Awards.

We’re big fans of the fabulous Canadian music scene, and we must say – they sure know how to throw a party. In 2016, the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) brought their annual week-long celebration to Calgary, culminating in the JUNO Awards broadcast. We were excited to collaborate with our friends at e=mc2 events on the event design for the JUNO Gala Dinner and Awards – here’s a glimpse into how we helped Canadian music pull off its biggest night of the year.

Since our contacts for the event were based in various locations across the country, communication and planning occurred entirely via email or other remote forms of checking in – a reality that required planning ahead, making use of technologies, and double-checking timezones. Our vast venue experience with the Calgary Telus Convention Centre was a huge resource that made the collaboration a perfect fit.

As part of the event design team, we dressed 100 tables in luxury floor-length linens, sourced directly from our own extensive selection. We styled social lounge areas in the reception space, and green room areas for performers and presenters backstage. Graphic bar surrounds were also designed and custom-produced by our team – a feature that created an impactful branded focal point for the event.

On the logistics side, we stepped in to locally source items listed on performance riders for the show’s musical performers. We were also able to liaise with local vendors to ensure that all of the elements used in the event design met the JUNO Awards’ brand standards.

We’re thrilled that our design efforts helped to showcase the quality of the Calgary events industry at this globally recognized event, and create a memorable experience for both the artists, and the viewers at home. Seeing some of our favourite Canadian musicians take home JUNOs was just the icing on the cake! Click over to our Event Profiles to check out some of our other recent projects.
